Rabi Paddy Procurement Initiative Inaugurated in Nabarangpur to Support Farmers During 2025–26 Season

Nabarangpur:June 2:  The Rabi paddy procurement process for the year 2025–26 has been inaugurated at the Market Yard of the local Regulated Market Committee (RMC), Nabarangpur.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by MLA and District Planning Board Chairman Gouri Shankar Majhi as the chief guest. Addressing the gathering, he highlighted various schemes and initiatives undertaken by the state government to strengthen the economic condition of farmers. He praised the farmers of the district and advised them to focus not only on traditional paddy cultivation but also on other cash crops.

Along with the MLA, District Collector Dr. Maheshwar Swain, Deputy Collector and Chairman of RMC Nabarangpur Prakash Kumar Mishra, farmer leaders, office bearers of the Millers’ Association, and officials from the Food Supply and Cooperation Department participated in the ceremonial inauguration of the Rabi paddy mandi.

Among those present on the dais were senior advocate and farmer representative Jhadeshwar Khadanga, CSO Debashish Mohanty, DRCS Sarat Chandra Panigrahi, Millers’ Association President Kahnu Charan Das, DIPRO Manoj Behera, ARCS Shiva Charan Pradhan, and RMC members and farmers Rajendra Tripathy and Saroj Patra.

For the year 2025–26, a total of 2,221 farmers in the district have registered for the sale of Rabi paddy. The target for this procurement season has been fixed at 41,850 quintals of paddy.
The procurement price for FAQ-grade paddy has been fixed at ₹2,369 per quintal, along with an input assistance of ₹731 per quintal for farmers.

A total of six paddy procurement centres have been established, including five LAMPS centres across the blocks of Nabarangpur, Nandahandi, Kosagumuda, Umerkote, and Chandahandi. These centres will function on all days except Sundays.

All necessary facilities and arrangements for farmers have been ensured at each procurement centre. The Rabi mandi operations will continue until 30 June.
Farmers from various blocks, departmental officials, and media representatives were present at the meeting. The meeting proceedings were conducted by RMC Secretary Kapilendra Sasmal.
