Bhubaneswar, Sept 25 [UDN}:The deep depression over the region has led to the inundation of large tracts of agricultural land in several parts of Ganjam district, affecting standing crops and raising concerns among farmers.
To assess the ground situation and examine the condition of the affected farmland, a team from the Agriculture Department visited various areas of the district today. The inspection was carried out under the leadership of District Chief Agriculture Officer Manoranjan Raut.
The team assessed the extent of waterlogging in agricultural fields and reviewed the condition of crops in the affected areas. Efforts have also been initiated by the administration to facilitate the speedy drainage of excess water from the farmland and minimise further damage to crops.
Meanwhile, authorities are keeping a close watch on low-lying areas as water levels in the Rushikulya River and Jayamangala Canal continue to rise amid the prevailing weather conditions. Officials are monitoring the situation and taking necessary precautionary measures in vulnerable areas.
