July 15 (UDN): The Odisha Health Department has intensified monitoring of the malaria situation in Rayagada district following the death of an Ashram School student, with an investigation into the incident currently underway.
A special team from the Health Department has visited Rayagada to assess the ground situation and review preventive and control measures being taken in the district.
According to health officials, 66 malaria cases have been detected in the district so far, with a majority of patients showing asymptomatic malaria, meaning they do not display obvious symptoms despite being infected.
Public Health authorities have stated that necessary steps are being taken to strengthen surveillance, ensure timely detection, and provide appropriate treatment to affected individuals.
The investigation into the Ashram School student’s death is continuing, and officials are examining all aspects related to the incident.
Health teams are also focusing on awareness activities, testing, and preventive measures to control the spread of malaria, particularly in vulnerable areas of the district.
The Health Department has urged people to remain alert, seek medical advice if symptoms appear, and cooperate with field health workers during ongoing surveillance efforts.
