Jagannath Rath Yatra 2026: Chariots to Roll at 4 PM as Temple Administration Announces Ritual Schedule

July 15 (UDN): Preparations are in the final stage for the world-famous Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath, with the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration announcing the detailed schedule of rituals for the grand festival.

As per the announced timetable, the sacred Pahandi procession of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra will begin at 9:30 AM and is scheduled to conclude by 12:30 PM. During this traditional ceremony, the deities will be ceremonially brought out of the temple and placed on their respective chariots.

The revered Chhera Pahanra ritual will be performed between 2 PM and 3 PM, when the Gajapati Maharaja of Puri will offer prayers and ceremonially sweep the chariots, symbolising humility, equality, and devotion before the divine.

Following the completion of the rituals, the grand Rath pulling ceremony will commence at 4 PM, marking the beginning of the annual journey of the three divine chariots towards the Gundicha Temple.

The temple administration and district authorities have made elaborate arrangements for the smooth conduct of the festival, including crowd management, security measures, and facilities for devotees arriving from different parts of the country.

Devotees have been advised to follow official guidelines, cooperate with security personnel, and maintain safety precautions while participating in the sacred celebration.

The Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath remains one of India’s most revered festivals, carrying forward centuries-old traditions of faith, devotion, and cultural unity.
