Bhubaneswar, Sept. 18 (UDN): Five orangutan infants rescued from Bhogarai in Balasore district are in stable condition and responding normally to care at Nandankanan Zoological Park, according to the latest health bulletin issued by the zoo authorities.
The rescued group comprises three males and two females, all of whom are currently under specialised medical supervision and continuous monitoring at the zoological park.
Health parameters monitored
The animals underwent clinical assessment as part of their ongoing care, with their body weights and temperatures recorded on September 16.
The three male infants weighed 5.1 kg, 3.56 kg and 2.94 kg, while the two females weighed 4.23 kg and 2.14 kg, respectively.
Their recorded body temperatures ranged between 98.6°F and 99.9°F.
According to the health bulletin, all five infants accepted their feeds normally and showed stable overall health during the assessment.
Round-the-clock monitoring
Nandankanan authorities said the infants are being closely monitored around the clock to track their health and development.
Paediatric specialists have also been consulted as part of the treatment and care plan. Medication for anaemia is continuing, while the activities and behaviour of all five orangutans are being regularly observed.
Officials said the animals have remained active and their routine activities have been found to be normal.
Specialised care continues
The zoo authorities are maintaining close supervision of the rescued infants as they continue their recovery.
Their health parameters, feeding pattern and daily activities are being monitored regularly, with veterinary and specialist teams keeping a close watch on their condition.
