Bhubaneswar, July 23 (UDN): The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has secured trademark approval for five important terms linked to the traditions and heritage of the Shree Jagannath Temple, Puri, marking a significant step towards protecting the temple’s cultural identity.
The approved terms include Mahaprasad, Neelachakra, Jagannath Dham, Shree Khetra, and Koili Baikuntha. The applications have successfully cleared the second stage of examination and will be published in the upcoming Trademark Journal.
The initiative aims to prevent unauthorised use and commercial exploitation of names and symbols that carry deep religious and cultural importance for devotees worldwide.
SJTA Chief Administrator Dr Arabinda Kumar Padhee said the approval represents a major achievement in preserving the sanctity and heritage of the centuries-old shrine.
The trademark protection will help ensure that these sacred terms remain connected with their authentic religious significance while supporting efforts to safeguard the unique traditions of Lord Jagannath.
The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration has previously taken similar steps to protect other temple-related names and rituals, strengthening the preservation of Odisha’s rich spiritual and cultural legacy.
