Bhubaneswar, July 23: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather alert predicting light to moderate rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning in 15 districts of Odisha over the next few hours.
According to the latest nowcast warning, thunderstorm activity is likely at one or two places across districts including Jajpur, Kendrapara, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Koraput, Kalahandi, Bolangir, and Rayagada.
The affected districts have been placed under a Yellow Alert, with residents advised to remain cautious and stay updated on changing weather conditions.
The weather department has urged people to take necessary safety precautions during thunderstorms, including avoiding open fields, water bodies, and isolated tall structures. People in rural and coastal areas have been advised to remain particularly alert during lightning activity.
Authorities are monitoring the situation as Odisha continues to experience active monsoon conditions across several parts of the state.
