Paradip:Sept 17 [UDN}: A two-day joint coastal security exercise, ‘Sagar Kavach-2’, commenced in Paradip on Wednesday to strengthen preparedness and coordination among various security agencies responsible for protecting Odisha’s coastline.
The exercise is being conducted along the coastal belt with the participation of the Indian Navy, Indian Coast Guard and Marine Police, among other agencies involved in maritime and coastal security operations.
The joint drill is aimed at assessing the preparedness of security forces to respond to potential threats along the coastline and improving coordination between different agencies during emergency situations. Personnel and units deployed for coastal surveillance and security are taking part in the exercise as part of the operational preparedness programme.
During the two-day exercise, security agencies will carry out coordinated activities relating to coastal surveillance, identification of suspicious movements and response mechanisms. The drill is also expected to test communication and coordination between agencies operating at sea and those responsible for security on the shore.
Paradip, being an important maritime and port region of Odisha, remains strategically significant for coastal security. The exercise provides an opportunity for the participating agencies to assess their operational readiness and strengthen their ability to work together in the event of a security threat.
The Sagar Kavach-2 exercise is part of the continuing efforts to strengthen the security architecture along the Odisha coast through regular joint exercises and coordinated surveillance.
