Sambalpuri Day Observed at LN College, Jharsuguda, Celebrating the Language, Literature, Folk Traditions and Cultural Identity of Western Odisha

Jharsuguda: Aug 8 [UDN}:Sambalpuri Day was celebrated at LN College, Jharsuguda, under the chairmanship of College Principal Suman Kumar Naik on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Guru Satyanarayan Bahidar, the pioneer of Sambalpuri language and literature.
The programme began with prayers and worship of Maa Samaleswari. A detailed discussion was held on promoting the language, culture, traditions, and heritage of the Sambalpur region, especially in a multilingual area like Jharsuguda.
The discussion session, coordinated by lecturer Himanshu Sekhar Mahakur, saw participation from Professor Brajesh Kumar Sahu, Professor Geeta Rani Dikshit, Professor Purnimamayi Dash, and Dr. Laldhari Singh. The speakers shared their views on the development of Sambalpuri language, literature, and cultural identity.
Later, various cultural programmes including Sambalpuri bhajan, speech competitions, and dance competitions were organized among students under the coordination of lecturer Tapan Sahu. The event highlighted the rich cultural heritage of Sambalpuri language and encouraged students to preserve and promote regional traditions.
