Shift of BEO Office to Resource Centre Aims to Strengthen Coordination and Improve Service Delivery in Block Education Administration

Kolnara, Mar, 28: The office of the Block Education Officer (BEO) in Kolnara Block has been functioning from the Block Resource Centre for the past 14 years. Till date, no separate building has been constructed for the BEO office.
The Block Resource Centre building was constructed in 2001, and the BEO office started functioning there in 2012. However, due to space constraints, it has become difficult to conduct meetings and training programmes for teachers in the building. A portion of the building has also been converted into a storage room for keeping teaching and learning materials.
As there are not enough rooms in the BEO office, a single room has been set up as the computer section, but no air conditioner has been installed. Due to lack of space, the ABEO (Additional Block Education Officer) and other staff members are compelled to sit together in the same room. There is no separate room for the ABEO, and even in the room where the BRCC (Block Resource Centre Coordinator) sits, there is hardly space to place three chairs.
Although the then government separated the Education Department from the Block administration in 2012, the necessary infrastructure was not provided to the new department. Even after so many years, the BEO office still does not have its own building. Moreover, one Additional Education Officer post has remained vacant for years.
Out of the three sanctioned ABEO posts in the block, only two officers have been working for many years, while one post has consistently remained vacant. Among them, one ABEO is also handling the additional responsibility of BRCC.
In such a situation, when there is no adequate officer to oversee meetings, school inspections, distribution of mid-day meal rice, and other responsibilities, it is evident how difficult it is to manage the work effectively.
