Bhubaneswar, July 30 (UDN): A deep depression over the Chhattisgarh–Madhya Pradesh region continues to influence weather conditions across central and eastern India, bringing prolonged rainfall and prompting authorities to remain vigilant in affected areas.
The weather system has shown very little movement in recent hours, resulting in extended periods of heavy to very heavy rainfall in several locations. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the system is expected to gradually move westwards across Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and adjoining Vidarbha regions before weakening further.
The slow-moving depression has also affected parts of Odisha, particularly southern interior districts, where several areas have received significant rainfall. Sinnapali in Nuapada district recorded 164 mm of rainfall in the past 24 hours, indicating the intensity of the weather system’s impact.
Officials are closely monitoring the situation and have advised residents in vulnerable and low-lying areas to stay alert and follow safety guidelines. Local administrations are prepared to take necessary measures to manage possible challenges such as waterlogging and rainfall-related disruptions.
The IMD continues to track the movement and intensity of the system, while authorities remain focused on ensuring public safety and providing timely assistance in areas affected by heavy rainfall.
