Malkangiri:July 21 [UDN}: As part of Van Mahotsav Week, a large-scale tree plantation drive was organized at PM SHRI Government Nodal High School in Malkangiri to promote environmental protection and increase greenery.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from educationists, local dignitaries, teachers, and students. It began with an awareness rally led by the school’s Scouts and Junior Red Cross volunteers, who carried placards and banners to spread awareness about tree plantation and environmental conservation.
Following the rally, a quiz competition on the environment, wildlife, and nature conservation was conducted for students to enhance their knowledge and awareness.
Additional District Education Officer Bhagirath Behera attended the event as the chief guest and encouraged students to take responsibility for protecting nature. Eminent educationist Dr. Ranjan Kumar Swain, the guest of honour, urged students not only to plant trees but also to nurture and protect them.
The programme concluded with the plantation of 50 saplings within the school campus. Headmistress Shantirani Biswas coordinated and supervised the entire event. Nihar Ranjan Choudhury and Bishnu Prasad Subuddhi also extended their support in making the programme successful.
Speakers emphasized that planting a tree is a lifelong commitment to the Earth. They stressed that every individual should plant and care for at least one tree to help combat global warming and ensure a healthier environment for future generations.
