Puri, Sept. 17 (UDN): Renowned Odisha sand artist and Padma Shri awardee Sudarsan Pattnaik marked Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday with a 25-foot-long sand sculpture at Puri Beach, featuring 2,500 diyas as part of the artistic tribute.
The installation, created on the occasion of the Prime Minister’s birthday, carries the theme “Aashirwad Ka Diya – 25 Years of Seva – Happy Birthday Modi Ji.”
Sand art features Modi in namaste pose
The sculpture features a prominent depiction of Prime Minister Modi in a namaste pose, set against a circular backdrop inspired by the colours of the Indian tricolour.
Traditional artistic motifs have been incorporated into the installation, while the large number of diyas surrounding the sculpture add a distinctive visual element to the artwork.
Pattnaik shared photographs of the creation on social media and said the installation was his way of conveying birthday wishes and prayers for the Prime Minister.
2,500 diyas add festive appeal
The 2,500 earthen lamps placed around the sand sculpture were designed to symbolise blessings and the spirit of service.
The artwork attracted visitors at Puri Beach, adding a cultural and artistic dimension to the birthday celebrations.
Pattnaik, who is known for creating large-scale sand sculptures on national and international occasions, has frequently used his art to highlight social messages, festivals and important public events.
