Summer Learning Program Announced to Keep Students Academically Engaged

Bhubaneswar:April. 28:  There is important news for school students and parents. This time, during the summer vacation, students will continue their studies from home. To ensure that students of government schools remain engaged in learning even during the holidays, the state government has taken a new initiative.
The Odisha School Education Programme Authority (OSEPA) is set to launch a “Summer Learning Program.” Under this initiative, students from pre-primary (Shishu Vatika) to Class 8 will be provided with activity-based and enjoyable learning.
As part of this campaign, class-wise WhatsApp groups will be created for parents in every school. A special chatbot provided by the government will also be added to these groups.
Key Features:
Study materials will be shared through WhatsApp
Instructions issued to join WhatsApp groups by the 25th
OSEPA has written to all District Education Officers (DEOs)
Learning content, including educational videos, will be shared one to three times a week depending on the class. For parents who do not have smartphones or WhatsApp access, alternative arrangements have been made. Information will be provided through SMS or IVRS (automated voice calls).
Additionally, printed holiday homework sheets will be distributed to all students before or during school closure.
OSEPA Additional Director Amita Pattanayak has issued a letter to all DEOs and District Project Coordinators, directing that all WhatsApp groups be activated by the 25th. The groups will be named as per government guidelines (Class Name–UDISE Code).
To ensure proper implementation, the program will be monitored at the state level through a dashboard. DEOs, Block Education Officers (BEOs), and CRCCs will review the progress weekly.
Teachers will stay in contact with parents to ensure that children study regularly at home and share photos or videos of their learning activities in the groups.
