Dhenkanal, Apr 13 (BNP): In a tragic incident on Sunday, three ‘danduas’ lost their lives due to electrocution while setting up a tent for the traditional Danda Nacha festival in Patala village under Balimi police station limits in Hindol area of Dhenkanal district.
According to reports, the mishap occurred when a steel bar used in the tent structure accidentally came into contact with a live 11 kV overhead power line, resulting in a fatal electric shock. All three victims died on the spot.
The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the village, especially as preparations for the religious festival were underway.
Police and local administration officials rushed to the scene upon receiving information and have launched an investigation into the incident. Authorities have stressed the importance of adhering to safety norms while erecting temporary structures near high-voltage power lines.
The bodies have been sent for post-mortem, and further details are awaited.
