Bhubaneswar, Aug 4 (UDN): Elaborate security arrangements have been put in place for President Droupadi Murmu’s special train journey from Bhubaneswar to Berhampur on Tuesday, with multiple security agencies coordinating to ensure a smooth and safe travel experience.
The President, who is on a three-day visit to Odisha, will travel by a special train from Bhubaneswar to Berhampur, marking a rare rail journey by a serving Head of State. A comprehensive three-tier security system has been deployed at railway stations and along the route.
Security personnel from the Government Railway Police (GRP), Railway Protection Force (RPF) and specialised units will provide protection during the journey. Additional security arrangements have been made inside and outside Bhubaneswar railway station, with Commissionerate Police managing the outer security perimeter and railway security forces overseeing the station premises.
As part of the security protocol, movement of trains on platforms 1 and 2 at Bhubaneswar railway station will be restricted several hours before the President’s departure. Railway authorities have arranged diversions to ensure that normal train operations continue through other platforms.
Security personnel will also be deployed at key locations along the route, including railway stations, level crossings and overbridges. Additional forces will be stationed at Berhampur, where arrangements have been strengthened for the President’s visit.
Odisha Police, Commissionerate Police and central and state intelligence agencies are coordinating closely to manage security and traffic arrangements during the visit.
After reaching Berhampur, President Murmu is scheduled to visit Taptapani and offer prayers at Maa Kandhuni Devi Temple. Security preparations have also been made in Ganjam district, with a large number of police personnel deployed to ensure a peaceful visit. The President is expected to return to Bhubaneswar on Wednesday.
