Puri, July 9 (UDN): The Grand Road (Bada Danda) in Puri has been transformed into a vibrant canvas of Odisha’s traditional Jhoti-Chita art as artists put the finishing touches to elaborate decorative motifs ahead of Rath Yatra 2026.

Created by skilled local artists using age-old indigenous techniques, the intricate white patterns and traditional designs have added a distinct cultural and spiritual charm to the ceremonial route along which the chariots of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra will travel during the world-famous festival.

The colourful decorations celebrate Odisha’s rich artistic heritage while enhancing the devotional atmosphere of the holy city. The traditional Jhoti-Chita artwork, an integral part of the state’s cultural identity, reflects themes of prosperity, auspiciousness and devotion, making it an important feature of Rath Yatra preparations.
