Traffic Curbs Announced in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack for President’s Odisha Visit

Bhubaneswar, July 31 (UDN): The Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissionerate has issued a comprehensive traffic advisory ahead of the President of India’s three-day visit to Odisha, scheduled from August 3 to August 5, during which she will attend official engagements in the Twin Cities.

To facilitate secure movement of the President’s convoy and ensure effective traffic management, temporary restrictions will be enforced on several major roads and connecting lanes in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack during specified time slots. The advisory has been issued under the provisions of the Odisha Urban Police Act, 2003 and the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissionerate (Traffic and Public Order) Regulations, 2008.

August 3

Traffic movement will remain suspended between 2.10 pm and 2.30 pm on the stretch connecting Airport Square, Hospital Square, AG Square and Lok Bhavan Square.

Additional restrictions will be in force from 3.50 pm to 4.50 pm and again from 5.50 pm to 6.50 pm along the President’s convoy route passing through Lok Bhavan Square, Power House Square, 120 Battalion Square, Sastri Nagar Square, Behera Sahi Square, Jaydev Vihar Square, XIMB Square, NALCO Square, Damana Square, Patia Square, KIIT Square, Nandankanan Square, Baranga Golei, Block Chhak, Godi Sahi Chhak, Canal Road and Banara Chhak.

Heavy vehicles, including buses, trucks, trailers and goods carriers with six wheels or more, travelling between Bhubaneswar/Khurda and Cuttack will also be prohibited from using the designated routes during the notified restriction periods.

August 4

On Tuesday, vehicular movement will be restricted from 8.30 am to 8.50 am on the route connecting Lok Bhavan Square, AG Square, Raj Mahal Square, Master Canteen Golei, U-turn, UCO Bank Lane and the approach road leading to the designated venue.

August 5

Traffic restrictions will again be imposed between 12.30 pm and 12.50 pm on the route linking Bhubaneswar Railway Station, UCO Bank Lane, Raj Mahal Square, AG Square, Hospital Square and Airport Square.

The Commissionerate clarified that emergency response vehicles, including ambulances, fire tenders and police vehicles, will remain exempt from the restrictions.

The traffic police have appealed to the public to plan their travel in advance, avoid the affected routes during the notified hours, and use alternate roads wherever possible to minimise inconvenience. Commuters have also been urged to cooperate with traffic personnel to ensure smooth movement and security arrangements during the President’s visit.
