Koraput/March, 18: International Women’s Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Basanti Kalyani Mandap in Laxmipur. The program was conducted under the supervision of local Police Station IIC Sujnani Sahu. Hundreds of women attended the event and celebrated the occasion by cutting a cake.
Social worker Sangeeta Mishra attended as the chief guest and delivered a brief speech highlighting the importance and role of women in society. College lecturers, teachers from local government schools, gurumas from Shishu Mandirs, lecturers from ITI College, students, mothers, and homemakers actively participated in the celebration.
It was emphasized that educating women is essential for building a healthy society, and an educated woman can contribute significantly to her family in all spheres of life. The IIC assured that the police are always there to support women and advised students to use mobile phones responsibly to avoid cybercrime.
Teacher Susmita Chakraborty stated that an educated woman does not earn recognition only through employment; nowadays, a skilled homemaker is no less capable in any way.
On this occasion, some women recited poems, while ITI students and Harshita Sahu, a student of Siddheshwari Public School, presented dance and song performances. As this was the first time Women’s Day was celebrated under the initiative of the IIC, all the women expressed their gratitude to her for organizing the successful event.
The celebration concluded with vibrant Dhemsa and Sambalpuri dances performed by the women, which filled the mandap with joy and energy.
