World Tribal Day Celebrations Held at Raighar with Cultural Programs and Events Highlighting the Contributions and Heritage of Tribal Communities

Raighar: Aug 14 [UDN}:World Tribal Day was observed in Raighar Block under the initiative of the local Tribal Development Council. On the occasion, thousands of members of the tribal community, dressed in traditional attire and carrying traditional weapons, took out a procession from the Mauli Maa Temple and reached the Block office.
At the Block office, they submitted a 14-point memorandum to the ABDo. The procession then proceeded towards the new bus stand.
The tribal community, which constitutes nearly 80% of the population of Raighar Block, alleged that they continue to be deprived of various basic rights. Their demands included declaring World Tribal Day an official government day, introducing district-based employment opportunities, identifying people who obtained fake tribal certificates and secured government jobs, and strictly enforcing laws preventing the transfer of tribal land to non-tribals.
They also demanded immediate land settlement, land rights for landless people, implementation of reservation for Scheduled Tribe government employees in promotions as per earlier provisions, and establishment of a Tribal Museum at Raighar.
Senior tribal community representatives, social workers and various members of the community attended the programme.
