Bhubaneswar, Sept. 21 (UDN): A 21-year-old youth was rescued alive after reportedly jumping into the Kuakhai River from the Tankapani Bridge in Bhubaneswar on Sunday night.
The youth, identified as Suryanarayan Jena, allegedly jumped into the river for reasons that remain unclear.
Following information about the incident, a team from the Balianta Fire Station immediately rushed to the spot and launched a search and rescue operation.
The rescue team, led by Station Officer Gobinda Chandra Jena, managed to locate the youth and pull him out of the river alive.
After being rescued, Jena was shifted to Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar for medical treatment. His condition was not immediately known.
The prompt response by the fire personnel helped avert a potentially serious outcome, with the rescue operation carried out soon after the incident was reported.
