CBSE Cracks Down on Dummy Schools for Class 12 Exams

New Delhi, March 28: The CBSE has announced that students enrolled in “dummy schools” will be barred from appearing in Class 12 board exams. In an effort to curb the rise of such institutions, the board is considering changes to its rules, requiring students to have at least 75% attendance to be eligible for exams.

Students failing to meet the attendance requirement may be referred to the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) for exams. This move, set to be implemented from the 2025-2026 academic year, aims to discourage the practice of enrolling in schools that don’t require regular attendance, especially among those preparing for competitive exams. Disciplinary action will also be taken against schools promoting this system.
