Bhubaneswar, May 31: With the early onset of the monsoon this year, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced the formation of a dedicated squad to monitor and control dengue cases within the city limits.
Addressing the 31st General Council meeting on Friday, Mayor Sulochana Das stated that immediate action will be taken in areas where dengue cases are detected. “If a dengue patient is identified, special focus will be given to their home and the surrounding locality. People experiencing fever are advised to consult a doctor and get tested without delay,” she said.
The BMC also plans to intensify awareness campaigns across the city to enhance public vigilance and minimize the spread of dengue. The civic body will focus on encouraging early diagnosis, eliminating mosquito breeding grounds, and spreading health education.
Key officials present at the meeting included Deputy Mayor Manjulata Kanhar, BMC Commissioner Rajesh Prabhakar Patil, Standing Committee chairpersons, corporators, and officials from related departments.
Residents can get dengue blood tests done at several centres including Capital Hospital, Patia CHC, IRC Village PHC, RMRC, and AIIMS Bhubaneswar.
