Assurance to NHM Workers: CM Vows End to Contractual Service Woes

Bhubaneswar, 25th Aug 2025:: After years of uncertainty, around 9,000 employees working under the National Health Mission (NHM) in Odisha’s health centers are set to be freed from contractual employment.

The Odisha NHM Employees’ Association has confirmed that the government has given a green signal in this regard.

On Thursday, a delegation of the association led by its president met Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and discussed various long-standing issues. The delegation informed the CM that for nearly 20 years, NHM employees have been serving in hospitals across the state on meager salaries under contract arrangements.

The Chief Minister assured them that the state government is fully aware of their problems and is already considering solutions. He added that a policy-level decision will be taken soon to provide a permanent resolution.

The government, he said, is committed to addressing issues in both the education and health sectors with due importance.
