Public Hearing Highlights Long-Standing Drinking Water Shortage in Several Areas

Nandapur, Dec, 08:   A public grievance hearing camp was organized on Monday by the Nandapur Block Administration in Chatua Panchayat-2. A total of 17 complaints were registered regarding road connectivity, community halls, network issues, and the development of Anganwadi Centres.

The major focus of the discussion was the drinking water crisis in the panchayat. Villagers submitted written complaints to BDO Durgaprasad Dora stating that:

90 tube wells,

18 solar-powered water supply projects, and

2 Basudha drinking water projects

in the panchayat are non-functional.

Villagers from Chatua, Majhiguda, Guma Mandir, Colony Ghati, Bhaliaguda, Cheptameta, Majhiguda, Duruba Chhak, Jai Phulguda, Banda Jhara, and several other villages raised concerns about defunct tube wells. Complaints were also received regarding non-functional solar water supply systems in Tal Kandapali, Jai Phulguda, Duruba Talsahi, Musapadar, Upper Kandapali, Lanjiguda, Cheptameta, Pulikonda, Koudikhala, Kumiguda, Chatua Gate, Pipalguda, Bailguda, Bankama Jhola, Talguda and other villages.

Residents of Duruba and Chatua Panchayat headquarters also reported that the Basudha drinking water project was not functioning. They requested immediate repair of all drinking water facilities.

BDO Dora informed that all complaints have been officially registered and assured that they would be addressed by drawing the attention of the district administration and concerned departments.
Rural Water Supply Engineer Kahnucharana Sethy stated that the condition of all drinking water projects would be inspected and the required repairs would be carried out.
