Call for Medical College Grows Louder in Nabarangpur

Nabarangpur, Feb, 3: A discussion meeting regarding the establishment of the proposed new medical college at the Nabarangpur district headquarters was held at the conference hall of Trupti Lodge under the chairmanship of Jagannath Mohapatra.
The meeting, conducted under the leadership of Secretary Ram Prasad Patra, was attended by committee advisor and Government Additional Public Prosecutor Jhadeswar Khadanga; State Primary Teachers’ Association President Ramani Ranjan Tripathy; State Employees’ Association President Tripati Balaji Sahu; Nabarangpur College Alumni Committee President Ganesh Das; District Bar Association President Sirajuddin Ahmed; educationists Jagadish Chandra Tripathy, Bijay Choudhury, and former professor Dr. Bijay Kumar Mishra, among others. The speakers strongly demanded that the medical college be established at the Nabarangpur district headquarters.

Advocates Santosh Mishra, Rabindra Prasad Padhi, Samaresh Gantayat, Laxmi Prasad Bishoyi, Niranjan Mishra, Srikant Mahanti, and Prabhasini Mahanti, along with other intellectuals, expressed that establishing the medical college at the district headquarters is justified. They emphasized that all organizations and individuals should collectively present the demand before the government.

The meeting also resolved to convey gratitude to the government for announcing a new medical college in Nabarangpur. However, as one year has passed since the announcement and no concrete steps have yet been taken toward its establishment, it was decided to submit a memorandum to the Odisha Government urging immediate action.

There was also a proposal to form a committee comprising representatives of all organizations in the district to pursue the matter further.

Committee Joint Convenor Advocate Pradeep Sahu, Treasurer Srinibas Patra, members Subrata Behera, Sarat Das, Vivekananda Panda, Advocate Kishori Pattnaik, and Swarsalata Pattnaik assisted in organizing the program. Tapan Bishoyi delivered the vote of thanks.

Advocates Birendra Kumar Nayak, T. Nandikeshwar Rao, Meenakshi Padhi, Siddhartha Shankar Behera, Umakanta Behera, Bhubaneswar Sur, Ravi Prasad Satpathy, Birendra Mohan Nayak, District Kinnar Association President Manoj Pattnaik, poet Ram Krishna Patra, Professor Ashul Bhatta, and Laxmikant Panda, among others, were present at the meeting.
