Malkangiri, May 04:: The 10th batch of the swimming and life-saving skills training program was successfully concluded at the District Panchayat Resource Centre in Malkangiri district.
The valedictory ceremony was attended by Divisional Forest Officer Sai Kiran, Additional District Magistrate (Revenue) Bedabar Pradhan, and District Emergency Officer Dipti Ranjan Sahu, who encouraged the trainees.
Addressing the gathering, the Additional District Magistrate emphasized that learning swimming is an essential life skill to protect oneself and others from water-related accidents. The Forest Officer highlighted that in a water-surrounded region like Malkangiri, such training is highly relevant. He added that during natural disasters like floods, these skills can play a crucial role in saving lives. The training also focused on scientific methods of rescuing drowning persons, which every citizen should be aware of.
It is worth noting that a total of 300 trainees were trained across 10 batches, with 30 participants in each batch. They received practical training in various water rescue techniques.
The program was successfully organized with the support of senior revenue assistant Kuna Nayak and other officials.
