Revenue Minister Reviews Ongoing Development Works and Civic Projects in Belpahar Municipality

Bhubaneswar, May 12:  At Lok Seva Bhavan, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari conducted a high-level review meeting regarding various developmental projects of Belpahar Municipality.
During the meeting, the Minister directed officials to cancel previous work orders for projects from earlier financial years that had not commenced and to invite fresh tenders. He instructed that budgetary provisions be made in the 2026–27 financial year to ensure the projects are completed at the earliest.
Expressing strong dissatisfaction over incomplete and neglected projects, the Minister ordered issuance of show-cause notices to the agencies or contractors responsible. He also directed officials to cancel work orders wherever necessary. It was informed that a high-level committee from the Housing and Urban Development Department would soon visit Belpahar municipality to inspect and review the pending projects.
Detailed discussions were held regarding the status of several projects, including market complexes, shelters for the urban homeless under the Chief Minister’s Urban Development Scheme, guest houses, the Saturday market, pathways, and other civic infrastructure projects. The Minister instructed that all these projects be completed within the next six months.
He further directed the Executive Officer and Assistant Engineer to ensure proper work plans are prepared from the tender stage itself and that contractors are strictly monitored to complete works within the stipulated timelines.
Keeping the severe summer heatwave in mind, the Minister asked officials to ensure uninterrupted drinking water supply in the area. He also instructed the SP and IIC over phone to take action against trucks illegally dumping fly ash in the Jharsuguda region.
The review also covered projects being implemented with funds provided by the State Government, Finance Commission grants, Western Odisha Development Council funds, District Mineral Foundation funds, and CSR funding. The Minister stressed speedy implementation of proposed projects for the 2027–28 financial year and emphasized proper utilization of 100 percent of the allocated funds.
Among those present at the meeting were the Minister’s Personal Secretary Pradeep Kumar Sahu, the Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson of Belpahar Municipality, the Executive Officer, Assistant Engineer, public representatives, and other officials.
