Malkangiri,June 4: On the occasion of World Menstrual Hygiene Day 2026, an awareness program was organized to break the silence, shame, and superstitions surrounding menstruation in society. The event featured open discussions with youth on the topic.
Speakers at the program stated that menstruation is not merely a word, but a natural biological process connected to every human life. Whether male or female, everyone’s birth is linked to this process. Therefore, menstruation should not be viewed as a matter of shame, but rather as an issue of awareness, dignity, and respect.
It was emphasized that society must show support and sensitivity so that women and adolescent girls do not face difficulties during their menstrual periods. The speakers also appealed to men to understand the issue seriously and develop attitudes of respect, empathy, and cooperation toward women.
On this occasion, many participants expressed happiness at getting another opportunity to work as “Period Fellows.” They described the experience of discussing such an important issue with young people as memorable and meaningful.
Heartfelt thanks were extended to the “Bada Didi” team and the organizing group for successfully conducting the event. Through messages promoting menstrual awareness and dignity, everyone was urged to come together to build a period-friendly society.
