Nabarangpur Hosts Inauguration of Amrit Kaal Cultural Festival Showcasing Traditional Music, Dance, and Local Talent

Nabarangpur, June 4:  A two-day “Amrit Kaal Cultural Festival” organized by the Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre, Kolkata, under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, commenced on  at Sai Kalyan Mandap in Nabarangpur.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by District Collector Dr. Maheshwar Swain as the chief guest. Addressing the gathering, he stated that the cultural richness of Nabarangpur district and the support of local artists have greatly enriched the district’s folk dances, traditional musical instruments, and music traditions.

Among the distinguished guests present were Municipal Chairperson Kunu Nayak, District Information and Public Relations Officer Manoj Behera, District Child Welfare Officer Suresh Pattnaik, and District Culture Officer Ghasia Harijan.

The speakers highlighted that the “Amrit Kaal Cultural Festival,” initiated under the guidance of the Hon’ble Prime Minister with the support of the Ministry of Culture and the Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre, reflects the vision of a developed India. The initiative has brought recognition and dignity to the cultural heritage, dance, and music traditions of India and Odisha. Through this festival, artists from Nabarangpur district are getting an opportunity to showcase their traditional dance forms and artistic talents.

They further emphasized that the district’s unique art, culture, dance, and musical traditions would flourish further through such cultural events during the Amrit Kaal era.
During the inaugural evening of the cultural festival, organized with the cooperation of the district administration, several cultural groups performed traditional dance programs. Participating troupes included:

Odissi Music and Dance Group
District Cultural Association, Nabarangpur
Sonu Majhi Demsa Dance Group, Dadurga
Navajhankar Yuva Sangathan, Nabarangpur
Shailodi Dance Group, Gopal Guda, Jharigram
Rinyodi Dance Group, Tentulikhunti
The Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre also provided financial assistance to the participating artist groups.
The Nabarangpur administration extended support to the initiative of the Kolkata-based Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre aimed at encouraging local artists of the district. On this occasion, several gurus and cultural mentors were felicitated.
Ranjita K.V.B. from the Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre compered the event, while Biju Prasad Mishra coordinated the program.
