Nabarangpur, June 23 {UDN}: On the occasion of the completion of two years of the State Government, the district administration inaugurated the district-level public outreach and exhibition fair titled “Bikashara Dhara Odisha Sara” (Development Across Odisha) at the local Police Ground in Nabarangpur today.
The programme was formally inaugurated by Gouri Shankar Majhi, Chairman of the Planning Board and MLA of Nabarangpur, as the chief guest. The dignitaries visited the exhibition stalls and watched a documentary titled “Development of Nabarangpur” prepared by the district administration.
During the event, the Nabarangpur MLA expressed his views on a proposal for the construction of a ring-road-like route from Subhash Bose Square at an estimated cost of ₹73 lakh and the establishment of a new sports complex at an estimated cost of ₹23 crore.
On this occasion, booklets titled “Pragati Pravaha” and “Bikashara Dhara Odisha Sara”, published by the Department of Information and Public Relations, were distributed among the participants. A booklet highlighting the achievements of the Women and Child Development Department over the past two years was also released by the guests.
The Women and Child Development Department distributed mobile phones to Anganwadi workers during the programme.
Prominent intellectuals of Nabarangpur district shared their suggestions for the district’s development:
Devdas Mahakud stressed the need for a Krishi Vigyan Kendra (Agricultural Science Centre) and a modern convention hall.
Nilamani Padhi suggested establishing a Veda Vidyalaya, a facility for Bhagavad Gita studies, and strengthening tourism development in the district.
Chittaranjan Patra proposed the restoration of the Martyrs’ Memorial near the Turi River and the organization of marathon competitions.
Advocate Kishori Pattnaik recommended setting up a national-level drama school, competitive coaching facilities, and a law college in the district.
Journalist Banka Bihari Bisoi proposed the construction of a new town hall at the district headquarters, a modern 500-bed guest house, boating facilities at Kusumjhar, stadium modernization, and cold storage facilities in Nabarangpur and Umerkote.
Journalist Prabhati Bisoi suggested establishing NEET coaching facilities and a modern library.
The chief guest also distributed financial assistance to various beneficiaries under different schemes.
In his address, Gouri Shankar Majhi emphasized infrastructure development and advised departmental officials to implement all public welfare schemes sincerely and in mission mode.
MLA Narsingh Bhatra praised the various initiatives undertaken by the State Government during the past two years and urged the administration to ensure their effective implementation.
District Collector Dr. Maheshwar Swain presented a detailed account of the developmental works and achievements accomplished in Nabarangpur district over the last two years.
A total of 30 stalls from various government departments were set up at the exhibition, showcasing government schemes, achievements, and developmental initiatives.

The programme concluded with cultural performances by local artists, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the region.
