Special Measures Taken by Railways as Additional Coaches Added to Several Trains to Ease Passenger Congestion

Bhubaneswar, June 25 {UDN}:  In order to provide passengers with a more comfortable travel experience and to effectively manage the anticipated surge in passenger traffic during the coming week, Indian Railways has decided to temporarily augment several express trains with additional coaches.
According to the announcement, Train No. 12837 Howrah–Puri Express will be provided with one additional Sleeper Class coach from June 20 to June 26, 2026.
Similarly, Train No. 08019 Shalimar–Puri Express will be augmented with one additional Sleeper Class coach on June 21, 2026.
Further, Train No. 18045 Shalimar–Charlapalli East Coast Express will receive one additional AC 3-Tier coach from June 20 to June 26, 2026.
Likewise, Train No. 18063 Santragachi–Yelahanka AC Express will be provided with one additional AC 3-Tier coach on June 20, 2026.
In addition, Train No. 18107 Rourkela–Jagdalpur Intercity Express will be augmented with one extra Sleeper Class coach on June 20, 2026.
Railway officials stated that the temporary addition of these coaches will significantly increase berth availability for passengers traveling on these routes. The move is expected to help accommodate the growing demand for train travel during this period, reduce overcrowding, and ensure a more convenient and comfortable journey for passengers.
The decision reflects Indian Railways’ continued efforts to enhance passenger services and respond proactively to seasonal increases in travel demand, particularly on busy routes connecting major cities and important destinations. By increasing carrying capacity through temporary coach augmentation, the Railways aims to provide relief to passengers seeking reservations and improve overall travel convenience during the high-demand period.
