The new radar systems will enhance real-time weather surveillance and provide more accurate forecasts of severe weather events such as cyclones, heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning. The improved forecasting network is expected to support timely warnings, helping authorities reduce risks to life and property.

Odisha has consistently invested in disaster preparedness and early warning systems, particularly in response to recurring cyclones and other extreme weather events. The addition of four Doppler radars is expected to further strengthen coordination among disaster management agencies and improve preparedness across vulnerable regions.

State officials said the initiative reflects Odisha’s continued focus on leveraging advanced technology to build resilience against natural disasters and protect communities through improved forecasting and early warning mechanisms.
