Bhubaneswar, July 13 (UDN): Police have arrested a father-son duo for allegedly supplying expired food and cosmetic products to retail outlets in and around Balipatna, raising concerns over consumer safety.
Based on specific information, police conducted a raid at a warehouse in Garedipanchana and recovered a significant quantity of expired goods, including packaged food items and cosmetic products. A vehicle allegedly used to transport the products was also seized during the operation.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused were allegedly involved in distributing expired items to local shops. The seized products have been secured for further examination, while officials are investigating the scale of the alleged supply network.
Police are also working to identify the retailers who may have received the consignments and determine whether the distribution extended to other areas.
Authorities have emphasised the importance of preventing the circulation of expired products, which may pose health risks to consumers. Further investigation into the case is underway.
