Bhubaneswar, July 17 (UDN): The Odisha government has announced the issuance of Interim Gramin Rozgar Guarantee Cards (GRGCs) to ensure that eligible rural households continue to receive employment opportunities without interruption while regular cards are being processed.
The initiative aims to prevent delays in providing work under the rural employment programme by allowing eligible families to access employment even before the final Gramin Rozgar Guarantee Cards are issued.
According to the Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water Department, interim cards will be provided to newly registered households, families whose existing job cards have been lost or damaged, households with no remaining space for employment-related entries, and other eligible applicants approved under the provisions of the Vikash Bharat–Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Act, 2025.
Officials said the measure has been introduced to ensure that no eligible household is denied employment due to administrative delays in issuing regular cards. Detailed operational guidelines have been circulated to district administrations, including Collectors, Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officers and Block Development Officers, for the timely generation, approval and distribution of the interim cards.
The initiative is expected to strengthen the implementation of rural employment programmes by ensuring seamless access to wage employment for eligible families and supporting livelihood security across Odisha’s villages.
The state government said the move reflects its commitment to improving rural welfare, enhancing employment access and ensuring that eligible households receive the benefits guaranteed under the law without unnecessary delays.
