Nabarangpur,July 30 UDN}: In accordance with the directions of the Election Commission of India, the Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026 programme is currently underway across the state. To review the progress of the programme, Jitendra Kumar Patra, Deputy Secretary of the Government of Odisha, visited Nabarangpur district today and inspected the field-level activities being carried out.
During his visit, he first held discussions with the Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) of the district. He then visited Agnipur Gram Panchayat under the 75-Nabarangpur Assembly Constituency, where he reviewed the status of hearings related to objections and grievances. He interacted with local residents to find out whether they had received the required forms, whether they were facing any difficulties in filling them out, and whether they were receiving adequate assistance from the Booth Level Officers (BLOs).
He advised the BLOs to reach out to all eligible voters and ensure that accurate and error-free information is collected. Subsequently, he visited the Nandahandi Block office under the 75-Nabarangpur Assembly Constituency and chaired a review meeting held there.
The meeting reviewed the daily progress of the SIR exercise, the status of distribution and collection of enumeration forms, progress reports submitted by supervisors, and field-level activities.
Addressing the review meeting, Deputy Secretary Jitendra Kumar Patra said that the electoral roll is the foundation of democracy and that ensuring a completely transparent, accurate and comprehensive voter list is the primary responsibility of everyone involved. He stressed that no eligible voter should be left out, while the names of deceased or relocated voters must be removed from the electoral roll in accordance with the prescribed rules. He urged officials to remain vigilant and ensure that all activities are completed with quality within the stipulated timeline.
He further directed BLOs, supervisors and block-level officials to maintain close coordination, accelerate the door-to-door survey process and provide all necessary assistance to every voter.
The visit and review programme was attended by Additional District Magistrate (General) Dr. Pramod Kumar Prusty, Additional District Magistrate (Revenue) Biswajit Barman, Chief Development Officer-cum-Executive Officer of Zilla Parishad Biranchi Narayan Darban, Sub-Collector Prakash Kumar Mishra, Deputy Collector (Election) Chinmay Sahu, BDOs of Nabarangpur and Nandahandi blocks, election supervisors, Booth Level Officers (BLOs), and officials and employees of the concerned departments.
