Heavy Rainfall Warning Prompts Shutdown of All Schools and Anganwadi Centres Across Nabarangpur District on July 30 as a Precautionary Measure

Nabarangpur,July 30 UDN}: In view of the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and lightning forecast by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) for July 30, 2026, all Anganwadi centres and schools across Nabarangpur district will remain closed on Thursday.

The district has been experiencing continuous rainfall in several areas over the past few days, affecting normal life and raising concerns about the safety and transportation of school-going children. Considering the prevailing weather conditions and giving the safety of students the highest priority, the district administration has decided to suspend educational activities for the day to prevent any untoward incident.

As per information issued by the District Emergency Section under the direction of Nabarangpur District Collector Dr Maheswar Swain, all Anganwadi centres, government schools, government-aided schools and private schools in the district will remain closed on July 30, 2026.

However, the closure will apply only to students and children. All headmasters and headmistresses, teachers, Anganwadi workers and helpers, along with other concerned staff members, will be required to report to their respective workplaces at the scheduled time and continue to perform their regular duties.

The district administration has urged the public to closely follow weather warnings and advisories issued by the meteorological department. People have also been advised to avoid unnecessary travel and remain cautious during periods of heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and lightning.

The district administration is closely monitoring the weather and ground situation. Further necessary measures will be taken depending on the evolving circumstances and weather conditions.
