NabarangpurAug 4 [UDN}: A musical programme was organised by the youth of Nabarangpur district at the local Sarojini Mandap to commemorate the legendary singer late Mohammed Rafi.
Nabarangpur District Planning Board Chairman and MLA Gauri Shankar Majhi attended the event as the chief guest. Other distinguished guests included Odisha Sangeet Natak Akademi member Debadas Mahankud, telefilm director Manoj Kumar Pattnaik, social worker Tinku Jain, and lecturer Akhil Bhatt. The guests paid floral tributes to the portrait of the late Rafi and remembered his immense contribution to Indian music.
Later, in the musical programme, young artists from different parts of the district presented some of Mohammed Rafi’s soulful and memorable songs. For the first time, the entire singing and instrumental music arrangements were handled by young artists.
Well-known singers, musicians, music directors, and literary personalities of the district were present and encouraged the young performers. Under the guidance of music director Tiki Suna and senior artist Kapil Maharana, singers Shiv Prasad Mahapatra and Kumar Samar extended their support.
Artists including Shiv Kishan Patra, Naba Kishore, Nihar Takri, Pritam Dhali, T. Nivedita, Nivedita Pattnaik, Baby Dhali, Jayashree Maharana, and Kasturi Bhatra performed songs during the programme. Tarun Pani, Little Suna, Adi, Jalaluddin, Kirthath, Bhatt, and others managed the instrumental music arrangements.
A large number of music lovers attended the programme and encouraged the young artists for their performances.
