Major Policy Push by Odisha Government as Cabinet Approves 11 Significant Proposals Aimed at Strengthening Agriculture, Infrastructure, and Inclusive Development

Bhubaneswar,Aug 6 [UDN}:Under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, the Odisha Cabinet has approved 11 significant proposals during its latest meeting. The decisions place special emphasis on agriculture, irrigation, rural infrastructure, and administrative reforms, reflecting the state government’s commitment to accelerating inclusive and sustainable development across Odisha.
A major focus of the Cabinet decisions is the expansion of irrigation facilities for farmers. The government has prioritized strengthening irrigation infrastructure through new projects aimed at providing assured water supply to thousands of hectares of agricultural land. The objective is to improve irrigation coverage, enhance agricultural productivity, reduce farmers’ dependence on erratic rainfall, and promote higher crop yields across the state.
In addition to agriculture, the Cabinet has also approved several projects to strengthen rural roads, bridges, and transportation connectivity. According to the government, improved infrastructure will make it easier for farmers to transport their produce to markets, reduce travel time and transportation costs, improve access to essential services, and stimulate economic activity in rural areas. Better connectivity is also expected to facilitate trade, create employment opportunities, and contribute to the overall development of villages.
The Odisha Government stated that these Cabinet decisions are designed to support long-term growth in agriculture, rural development, and infrastructure creation. By investing in irrigation networks and rural connectivity, the government aims to build a stronger agricultural economy while improving the quality of life for people living in rural areas.
The government expressed confidence that the approved proposals will directly benefit farmers and rural communities by increasing agricultural efficiency, strengthening infrastructure, promoting economic development, and creating sustainable opportunities for future growth. Overall, the Cabinet’s decisions are expected to play a crucial role in advancing Odisha’s long-term development agenda and ensuring balanced progress across the state.
