Bhubaneswar: Aug 7 [UDN}:Giving priority to farmer empowerment and river water management, the Odisha Cabinet has approved five proposals of the Water Resources Department. A total of 11 proposals from six departments were approved during the Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
The proposals of the Water Resources Department include two tenders related to the Anandapur Barrage and project, the distribution system project of the Baitarani River, and construction of underground pipeline systems in the Salandi Left Main Canal.
An amount of ₹145.5 crore has been approved for the construction of underground pipelines in the Salandi Left Main Canal, along with ₹7.30 crore for maintenance. Another underground pipeline project has received tender approval worth ₹112.51 crore, with an additional ₹5.63 crore allocated for maintenance.
Similarly, under the Parvati Giri Mega Lift Irrigation Project, a project worth ₹234 crore has been approved for lifting water from the Daya River in Puri district and the Mahanadi River in Khordha district.
Among other decisions, the Cabinet also approved ₹2,995 crore for the Tribal Livelihood Mission, extended the duration of the agricultural machinery scheme by five years, and decided to accelerate the implementation of the urban housing scheme.
