Bhubaneswar, Aug 10 [UDN}:A preparatory meeting was held on the morning of August 7, 2026, in the Ashok Mehta Conference Hall at the Nabarangpur Collectorate under the chairmanship of District Collector Dr. Maheshwar Swain. The meeting focused on ensuring the smooth and successful organization of the district-level ‘Har Ghar Tiranga 2026’ campaign and the 150th anniversary celebrations of ‘Vande Mataram’ in connection with the upcoming Independence Day. Several key decisions were taken after detailed discussions.
According to the decisions made during the meeting, the District Culture Department will provide financial assistance for organizing the programmes at every Panchayat Samiti across the district. The Mission Shakti District Project Coordinator (DPC) was instructed to ensure that the national flags prepared by Women Self-Help Groups (WSHGs) are safely distributed to all blocks and municipalities by August 8. The District Information and Public Relations Officer (DIPRO) was entrusted with organizing a press conference on August 9 to widely publicize the campaign.
A grand district-level Tiranga Rally will be organized in Nabarangpur town on August 10, beginning from Dr. Sadasiva Park and concluding at the Collector’s Office. Around 4,000 to 5,000 participants, including students, government employees, and members of the public, are expected to take part. In addition, a Tiranga Bike Rally will be held on August 12, while a Tricolour Rangoli Exhibition will be organized at the Collectorate premises on August 10.
As part of the observance of Partition Horrors Remembrance Day on August 14, Nabarangpur Nodal College will host programmes including a two-minute silence in memory of the martyrs, a short film screening, and a candlelight march.
All major government buildings, hospitals, important roads, gateways, statues, and prominent tourist destinations across the district will be decorated with attractive tricolour lighting. The Superintendent of Police has been assigned responsibility for maintaining law and order and traffic management during the events, while the concerned departmental officers have been directed to ensure uninterrupted power supply, fire safety arrangements, and ambulance services.
The meeting was attended by Additional District Magistrate (General) Dr. Pramod Kumar Prusti, Additional District Magistrate (Revenue) Biswajit Chandra Barman, Chief Development Officer-cum-Executive Officer, Zilla Parishad Biranchi Narayan Darwan, PA, ITDA Rajib Sahu, Sub-Collector Prakash Kumar Mishra, Additional Superintendent of Police S. Diga, ADMO Dr. Sukanta Chandra Satpathy, other district-level officials, and all Block Development Officers (BDOs).
At the conclusion of the meeting, District Collector Dr. Maheshwar Swain urged all departments to work in close coordination and ensure that every programme is conducted successfully within the stipulated timeline.
