CAG Report Prompts Immediate Railway Intervention to Strengthen Safe Drinking Water Facilities for Passengers

Bhubaneswar,  Aug 20 [UDN}:Cold drinking water machines, comprehensive water purification systems, monitoring mechanisms, and “tank-to-tap” water filtration systems will be installed at around 20,000 locations across the railway network. Instructions have also been issued to replace old water storage tanks.
Regular water quality testing will be carried out at water sources and dispensing points. A centralized monitoring system will be established to ensure proper oversight and accountability. Water storage tanks will be cleaned and maintained regularly in accordance with prescribed standards.
The Railways has identified safe drinking water as a top-priority area, with direct supervision and monitoring at the Board level to ensure compliance and the availability of safe and hygienic drinking water for passengers.
