Bhubaneswar, Sept 2 [UDN}: According to the Minister, the Agriculture Department has so far supplied 2,76,973 tonnes of fertilizer, while the Cooperation Department has supplied 2,48,676 tonnes to PACS and LAMPS. At present, 28,297 tonnes of fertilizer remain in stock with the department. The Agriculture Department is expected to supply another 3.20 lakh tonnes of fertilizer in the coming days. The share of fertilizer allocated to the Cooperation Department has also been increased from 35% to 60%.
To prevent black marketing, committees have been formed at both the state and district levels to monitor the supply and sale of fertilizers. The Minister made it clear that strict action would be taken against those found involved in illegal trading or black marketing.
Regarding server problems during farmer registration, the Minister said that farmers are facing difficulties because the server has been going down due to heavy rainfall. The government is taking all necessary steps to facilitate farmers, and the registration deadline will be extended if required.
The Minister also expressed concern over the alleged use of government-supplied fertilizer for cannabis cultivation. He warned, “Those who take fertilizer for paddy cultivation and use it for cannabis cultivation will not be spared.” Farmers found using government fertilizer for cannabis cultivation will no longer be provided fertilizer, and strong action will be taken against those involved.
To prevent the misuse of fertilizers, the Agriculture and Cooperation Departments will conduct joint investigations.
