Bicycle Rally Organised in Nayagarh with Great Enthusiasm to Mark the Celebration of National Sports Day 2026

Nayagarh, Sept 2 [UDN}:: The Nayagarh district administration celebrated the third day of National Sports Day 2026 with enthusiasm at 7 am today at the Jagannath Temple in Old Town, Nayagarh. The event was organised to commemorate the birth anniversary of Major Dhyan Chand, the legendary Indian hockey player.

Nayagarh District Collector Madhumita Rath, Zilla Parishad Chairperson Er. Debashish Pattnaik, and District Sports Officer Sujata Kumari Sahu were among those present on the occasion.

District Collector Rath encouraged citizens of all age groups to actively participate in sports and physical activities, highlighting the importance of promoting sports, improving physical fitness and developing a healthy lifestyle across the district.

Zilla Parishad Chairperson Pattnaik called upon the younger generation to take greater interest in sports and make physical exercise and sporting activities an integral part of their daily lives.

As part of the celebrations, a grand bicycle rally was organised from the Jagannath Temple in Nayagarh to Brajendra High School. Students, journalists and people from different sections of society participated in the rally.

The programme was organised jointly by the Nayagarh District Administration and the Department of Youth and Sports, Government of Odisha, with the objective of strengthening the sports environment in the district and promoting physical fitness, interest in sports and sporting spirit among citizens.

Refreshments and drinking water were arranged for the participants and guests at the end of the programme. District Sports Officer Sujata Kumari Sahu coordinated the event.
