98-Year-Old Pilgrim Sets Out on Spiritual Cycling Journey to Major Hindu Shrines, Felicitated by BJP Leaders

Umerkote: Sept 9 [UDN}:The Umerkote unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) felicitated 98-year-old Sadhu Harijan of Murtuma village under Murtuma Gram Panchayat for undertaking an extraordinary pilgrimage by bicycle.

Despite his advanced age, Sadhu Harijan has demonstrated remarkable determination and devotion. According to the report, he had cherished a dream since childhood of visiting major pilgrimage destinations on his own bicycle. With strong self-confidence and deep faith, he began his journey from the Hanuman Temple in Umerkote.

As part of his pilgrimage, Sadhu Harijan plans to visit several prominent religious destinations. His itinerary includes Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri and finally Haridwar. His journey has attracted admiration from local residents and BJP workers, who praised his courage, faith and determination to fulfill a lifelong dream.

On the occasion of the beginning of his pilgrimage, a felicitation programme was organised under the leadership of Sudeb Nandi, president of the Umerkote Nagar Yuva Morcha. Several BJP leaders and workers were present, including Minister’s Representative Ashok Padhi, senior advocate and senior BJP leader Ram Nayak, BJP District Mahila Morcha President Mandira Nayak, Umerkote Nagar President Babu Sharma, Vice-President Dukalu Meher, Dilip Biswas, General Secretary Prabhat Nayak, Pendu Nayak, and youth activists including Siki Sethi, Sumiti Thakur, Gopal, Chumki, Minati and Satyabati.

The BJP representatives honoured Sadhu Harijan by presenting him with an uttariya (traditional ceremonial cloth) and extended their best wishes for a safe and successful pilgrimage. A special puja was also performed at the temple, seeking divine blessings for his journey.

The remarkable pilgrimage of the 98-year-old has become a symbol of faith, determination and the strength to pursue one’s dreams regardless of age.
