Bhubaneswar, Sept 11 [UDN}:The State Government has announced a major welfare initiative aimed at providing greater financial security and support to working journalists and their families. Under the new measure, if a working journalist dies an untimely or premature death while in service, the journalist’s family will be provided financial assistance of ₹4 lakh.
The initiative is being viewed as an important step towards strengthening the welfare and social security of journalists who play a vital role in keeping the public informed and highlighting issues of public interest. The financial assistance is intended to provide immediate support to the bereaved family at a difficult time and help them cope with the economic hardships arising from the sudden loss of their earning member.
