The pure silk and real zari sari reimagines the traditional Korvai technique as an all-over brocade, an innovation conceived by Advaya’s principal designer K.H. Radharaman. For the Ambani family’s Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations, Mrs Nita Ambani chose Advaya’s signature brocade Kanjivaram sari, a striking expression of the label’s approach to textile innovation.
Handwoven in pure silk with real zari, the sari combines the Rangkat and Korvai techniques in an all-over brocade. Rendered in flame orange and deep pink, its richly woven surface creates a vivid interplay of colour, texture and traditional Kanjivaram grandeur.
What makes the sari particularly distinctive is its use of Korvai. Traditionally, the technique has been employed to create interlocked even and uneven borders in Kanjivaram saris. For this piece, K.H. Radharaman extends Korvai across the entire body of the sari for the first time, transforming a technique associated with the border into an intricate all-over brocade.
It is an approach that speaks closely to Advaya’s design philosophy. Rather than treating textile tradition as fixed, the label continues to explore what can be technically reimagined within it. The result remains unmistakably Kanjivaram in character, but introduces an entirely new way of constructing and experiencing the weave.
Founded by K.H. Radharaman, Advaya is the Indian luxury design label from the House of Angadi, known for its limited-edition artisanal saris and its continued exploration of Indian textile traditions through material and technical innovation.
