London, Sept. 16: A planned interaction between Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay and members of the Tamil community in London has been cancelled following concerns raised by local law enforcement over public safety.

The IT Wing of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) announced the cancellation in a post on X, citing public safety norms and a request from the London Metropolitan Police.
The party wing appealed to members of the Tamil diaspora to cooperate with the authorities and refrain from attempting to meet the Chief Minister during his stay in London.
TVK urges supporters to avoid gathering
The TVK IT Wing said members of the Tamil community had been looking forward to meeting Vijay but urged them not to gather outside his hotel or along routes used by his convoy.
The appeal came amid preparations by members of the diaspora to attend the proposed interaction.
The party said the cancellation was made in view of the prevailing public-safety concerns and requested supporters to avoid any gathering that could create difficulties for local authorities or disrupt public movement.
Vijay in UK on investment outreach
Vijay is currently visiting the United Kingdom as part of an overseas investment mission aimed at attracting new investments and expanding industrial partnerships in Tamil Nadu.
During his London engagements, the Chief Minister has held discussions with Indian business leaders and executives from global manufacturing companies, with the state focusing on sectors such as advanced manufacturing, electric vehicles, electronics, renewable energy and Global Capability Centres (GCCs).
The visit is part of the state government’s efforts to attract fresh investments and create employment opportunities while strengthening Tamil Nadu’s position as a major industrial and investment destination.
State highlights investment commitments
According to an official statement, the Vijay-led government secured investment commitments exceeding Rs 1 lakh crore through Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) signed during the ‘Vetri Tamil Nadu Investors’ Conference 2026, held within the first 100 days of the administration.
The UK visit is aimed at building on that investment drive through direct engagement with international companies and business leaders.
While the London meeting with the Tamil community has been called off, Vijay’s scheduled investment-related engagements remain a key focus of his ongoing overseas visit.
