Nabarangpur: Sept 17 [UDN}:Nabarangpur District Planning Board Chairman and MLA Gouri Shankar Majhi has taken a distinctive step to connect more closely with the common people and understand their everyday travel experiences.
Instead of travelling in a private vehicle or using other modes of transport, Majhi travelled from Bhubaneswar to Nabarangpur by the Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC)-operated ‘Jagannath Express’ bus. He reached Nabarangpur after undertaking the journey alongside ordinary passengers.
The initiative provided the legislator with an opportunity to experience public transportation from the perspective of common commuters and gain a first-hand understanding of the issues they face during long-distance travel.
During the journey, Majhi reportedly interacted with fellow passengers and discussed various issues concerning their daily lives and travel experiences. His decision to use public transport like an ordinary passenger has attracted attention in the district.
As a public representative, Majhi’s decision to travel with common passengers is being viewed as an effort to remain directly connected with the people he represents. Such interactions can provide elected representatives with a better understanding of public concerns, particularly those related to transportation facilities, passenger convenience and connectivity.
The journey has generated discussion among people in Nabarangpur, with many viewing it as a simple but noteworthy gesture aimed at strengthening the MLA’s direct relationship with the general public.
