Puri, Sept 17 [UDN}:Ayurveda can serve as a powerful bridge between India’s ancient knowledge traditions and the future of healthcare, and has the potential to give a new direction to healthcare systems in the years ahead, Odisha Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati said.
Addressing the graduation ceremony of Gopabandhu Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya in Puri as the chief guest, the Governor said that opportunities for Ayurveda are expanding not only in India but also across the world. He stressed that its global acceptance can be strengthened further through scientific research, evidence-based studies, quality standards and responsible medical practices.
Dr. Kambhampati said the younger generation has an important role to play in taking the rich tradition of Ayurveda forward. By combining traditional Ayurvedic knowledge with research, innovation, technology and modern healthcare applications, young professionals can create new possibilities and contribute to the evolution of the system.
The Governor also pointed out that Ayurveda graduates have wide career opportunities beyond conventional clinical practice. He encouraged the graduating students not merely to look for jobs but to become job creators by exploring entrepreneurship, research, healthcare services and other emerging areas related to Ayurveda.
He appreciated the initiatives being taken by the Central and Odisha governments to strengthen the Indian systems of medicine. Emphasising the importance of ethics in medical practice, he said that knowledge gives a doctor the power to serve people, while ethics gives that power the right direction.
The Governor urged the new graduates to respect patients’ trust and discharge their responsibilities with honesty, compassion, humility and humanity. He said that medical professionals must always keep the welfare and dignity of patients at the centre of their service.
Paying tribute to Utkalamani Pandit Gopabandhu Das, the Governor congratulated the graduating students, their families, teachers and college staff. He expressed hope that Gopabandhu Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya would continue to grow as a centre of excellence in Ayurveda education, research and healthcare in the coming years.
During the ceremony, Governor Kambhampati presented graduation certificates to the students.
Among others, Odisha Health and Family Welfare Minister Mukesh Mahaling, MP Sambit Patra, AYUSH Director Anjana Panda and Ranjan Kumar Kasta of Gopabandhu Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya addressed the gathering. College Principal Bipin Bihari Khuntia delivered the welcome address and introduced the guests.
The ceremony highlighted the growing importance of Ayurveda in contemporary healthcare and the need to combine India’s traditional medical knowledge with scientific research, modern technology and ethical professional practice.
